This policy explains what DataBull ("we") collects on ownlytics.xyz and through the license service, and what the self-hosted product does and doesn't send us. Questions: hello@ownlytics.xyz.
1. The DataBull you install
DataBull Self-hosted runs in your Cloudflare account. Visits, events, payments, customers, settings and the API keys you connect are stored in your D1 database. None of it is sent to us, and we have no access to it. For that data, you are the controller and Cloudflare is your processor; your own privacy policy should cover it.
Your installation contacts ownlytics.xyz for exactly two things:
- License checks when you install, update, or manage your license: your license key, the activation id and the install name.
- Update checks, once a day: a request for the latest version number and release notes. It carries no data about your sites or visitors.
Like any web request, these come with your server's IP address, which Cloudflare processes for us.
1a. DataBull Hosted
If you subscribe to DataBull Hosted, your dashboard runs on our Cloudflare account, in a database of its own that no other customer's dashboard can read. Then we store what it collects for you (visits, events, payments, customers, settings and the keys you connect) and act as your processor: we use that data only to run your dashboard, never for anything of our own, and we don't sell or share it. You stay the controller, and your own privacy policy should cover it. We look inside your dashboard's data only when you ask us to (for example for support) or when the law requires it. When your subscription ends we keep the data 30 days, so you can come back or ask for an export, and then delete it.
2. Buying a license
Checkout is run by Dodo Payments, our merchant of record. Dodo collects your name, email, billing country and payment details under its own privacy policy (see dodopayments.com). We never see your card details. Dodo shares with us what we need to deliver and support your license: your name, email, the product and amount, and the payment status. We also attach a few technical details to the checkout (the price tier, and, if our analytics is running, an anonymous visitor id) so we know which page led to the sale.
3. License activation
When the installer activates or checks a key, we process the key, the activation id, the install name you chose, the customer email Dodo has on file, and the request's IP address. We use them to deliver updates, enforce the license terms and stop abuse (for example, a key shared publicly). License records live with Dodo Payments; request logs are kept by Cloudflare for a short period.
4. Using ownlytics.xyz
We measure ownlytics.xyz with DataBull itself, on our own Cloudflare account. It records pages viewed, the referring site and campaign, browser, device, and country and city derived from the IP address. It uses first-party cookies (datacheap_visitor_id, datacheap_session_id) to recognise a returning visitor and tie a purchase to the visit that led to it. The IP address isn't stored. We use this only to understand which pages and sources work. A small preference for light or dark mode is kept in your browser.
5. Services involved
| Service | What for |
|---|---|
| Dodo Payments | Checkout, receipts, tax, license keys (merchant of record). |
| Cloudflare | Hosts ownlytics.xyz, the license and release service, DataBull Hosted dashboards, and (in your account) your self-hosted DataBull install. |
| Esri (ArcGIS map tiles) | The world map in your DataBull dashboard loads map tiles from Esri, from your browser. |
| Google favicon service | Your dashboard shows referrer icons by asking Google for a site's icon, from your browser. Only the referrer's domain is sent. |
We don't sell personal data, and we don't use advertising or cross-site tracking.
6. Legal bases and retention
We process purchase and license data to perform our contract with you, and site analytics and abuse prevention on our legitimate interest in running and protecting the service. Purchase records are kept as long as tax law requires; license records for as long as the license exists; analytics for up to 2 years.
7. Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, to correct it, or to delete it (where we don't need it for the license or tax law), and you can object to analytics. Email hello@ownlytics.xyz from the address you bought with. You can also complain to your data protection authority.
8. Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
